THE SNOW KINGDOM AT BACKYARD CINEMA, LONDON

For experiential cinema at its finest, step through a secret waterfall to reveal The Snow Kingdom, an enchanted castle with all manner of magical secrets to discover. HOGWARTS IN THE SNOW, WARNER BROS STUDIO TOUR, LONDON

Promising a magical day out for young Harry Potter fans (as well as those who enjoyed the books the first time around), Warner Bros’ enduringly popular studio tour experience has received a festive makeover for winter. Newly lined with Christmas trees, the Great Hall features tables groaning with a mouthwatering Christmas feast, while a dusting of snow – the filmmaking kind – covers the Hogwarts castle and Diagon Alley shopfronts.
GLYNDEBOURNE CHRISTMAS CONCERT
8-12 December
Showcasing the stellar musical talents of the Glyndebourne Chorus and Tour Orchestra, this festive performance can be enjoyed by families of all ages. The evening begins with rousing operatic highlights before segueing into popular carols and yuletide classics.
CHRISTMAS AT BLENHEIM, BLENHEIM PALACE, OXFORDSHIRE

With a jam-packed festive programme, we recommend taking the day to enjoy the festive delights at Blenheim this year. Start inside in the Palace rooms, where the story of The Nutcracker comes to life with gigantic gingerbread men and fairytale surprises, before perusing the many stalls in the Great Court’s Christmas Market. Lastly, explore the glittering after-dark trail on show in the scenic gardens.

Why simply skate in your local leisure centre when you could glide under the stars at one of Britain’s most historic palaces? Set against the beautiful backdrop of Hampton Court, this open-air rink makes an ideal day out with little ones or a romantic evening for two. Once back on firm ground, make time to sample a mince pie or festive food platter at the Ice Rink Café & Bar.
