“As our name suggests, our products bottle ‘a hundred acres’ of heavenly English countryside – the sort of abundant gardens, rambling meadows, and romantic ancient orchards that England is famous for.”
Ellea Whamond, co-founder, 100 Acres

Dreaming of spending time in your own hundred acres of beautiful British countryside? Well, the botanical bath and body brand, 100 Acres was created to celebrate the magic of our green and pleasant land, from the nature-filled fields to secret walled gardens, ancient orchards and hidden lakes, reminiscing the scents and sounds of the countryside within each product.

“We’re a Cotswold-based brand and I grew up in the area, running free range through
the fields, playing out in the garden until sunset and making all sorts of weird and

wonderful concoctions from herbs and flowers. We not only bottle the magical scents

of the countryside, but that peaceful feeling that you get after

spending the weekend roaming wild through fields, forests and country lanes”.

Bottling this dream of one hundred acres is done with sustainability in mind by the team at 100 Acres. Each product is as luxurious as it is all-natural, using pure, fragrant botanicals to allow you to escape to the countryside at any time. Created in Britain in small batches, the products are made without any artificial nasties, the packaging is recyclable, biodegradable or upcycled – it’s all about treading lightly on the planet, 100 Acres also donates a percentage of sales to Rewilding Britain, supporting its goal to achieve a 30% ‘rewilded Britain’ by 2030.

From hand washes, body washes and bath salts, to bath and body oils, fragrance diffusers and more, it’s the scents that captures the imagination and nurtures mind, body and soul. The key top notes are listed on each product, with up to ten botanicals blended in each to create the signature scent. “If you close your eyes while using a 100 Acres product and inhale deeply” says Ellea, “you could genuinely be taking a high-Summer stroll through a beautiful English garden, overflowing with rose and scented herb bushes.”

Here we chat to co-founder, Ellea to find out more about 100 Acres and what’s next for this exciting British bath and body brand.

What initially inspired you to create 100 Acres?

I joined 100 Acres as co-founder about four years ago and now lead the brand – I fell utterly head over heels in love with it and knew instantly that it had the power and longevity to become a British luxury institution.

We’re all about bottling the inimitable, fragrant magic of the countryside – our products are all infused with a rich botanical perfume that’s made purely from freshly distilled herbs, flowers and fruits. We use on average 4x more oils than other brands and at 4x higher concentrations, so our fragrances practically burst out of their bottles!

Where do you see natural skin and body care products going in the next 5-10 years?

We’re not particularly trend-led to be honest, we do what’s right for us and our customer but I would say there certainly seems to be a shift away from products for the sake of products.

Historically I think the beauty industry has been (and still is) so saturated that I don’t think just having a hand wash or bubble bath that simply ‘smells nice’ cuts it anymore. Your everyday luxuries have to actually mean or do something for you.

I think that’s why 100 Acres has done so well – our products are so much more than just products. I know I’m biased but they really are like a momentary countryside escape. A few seconds of fragrant bliss – in a bottle – whether you’re taking a leisurely Sunday bubble bath, washing your hands for 10 seconds while working from home or squeezing in a 5 minute shower before a Monday morning commute.

What’s next for 100 Acres?

We have so many exciting things in the pipeline. We’ve actually just relaunched the beautiful new green bottles which we’ve been wanting to do for a while – our products now look just as heavenly as they smell and are such a beautiful object to have in the home.

Our best-selling refillable diffuser launched last year, too, which has certainly taken homes across the Cotswolds by storm! This year we’re relaunching one of our most-loved products in beautiful refillable glass packaging (watch this space) and we have at least three other exciting launches in the pipeline too – I can’t tell you too much, but I can tell you the scents are absolutely otherworldly. Our best yet. Follow us on Instagram or join our email list to be the first to know when they launch!
